NovaMed
The BackgroundFounded in 1995 and headquartered in Chicago, NovaMed acquires, develops and manages Ambulatory Surgery Centers for single and multiple specialties throughout the United States. The majority of NovaMed’s claims are UB facility billing. The company’s previous clearinghouse did not offer UB claims submission electronically, so NovaMed was saddled with cumbersome paper claims. In addition, the clearinghouse could only handle certain regional payers, further limiting its value to NovaMed as a national company serving clients across the country. Why ViaTrack? It became painfully clear to NovaMed that it needed much better service to meet their pressing requirements for improved efficiency and broader connectivity with payers. According to Cyndy Gubricky, Director, Revenue and Reimbursement, “At the time NovaMed considered various service providers there were fewer choices that met the demands of our growing company. Many vendors were less willing to accommodate the unique needs of NovaMed’s large and small facilities. ViaTrack’s flexibility made the difference.” The ResultUsing a tiered implementation process, ViaTrack steadily brought NovaMed sites into its service delivery network and now serves over 30 NovaMed sites across the United States – with multiple Practice Management Systems users. ViaTrack trained NovaMed personnel on its system, which most found far easier to use than previous systems. Tammie Swanson, Billing Systems Support Specialist, says ViaTrack’s reporting features are “awesome” and the rapid advice on claims’ acceptance/rejection has become a “breeze” for NovaMed personnel, ensuring fast filing and processing of every claim. NovaMed also points to ViaTrack’s fast response to every question as “impressive,” crediting ViaTrack’s personable and eager staff who are ready to assist with any inquiry. Tammie adds: “When I have a question, I get clear and easy to understand answers. ViaTrack support staff speak to me using uncomplicated language, without all the confusing technical jargon.”
